Engineering and DesignWhether you are building a new, or improving upon an existing, product or process, Bimac has the in-house engineering talent, experience and track record of providing proactive casting solutions that have helped thousands of customers implement cost-savings improvements. Our customers typically realize significant bottom line benefits from extending the life of processes, designs and tooling, as well as significantly increased product yields. The Bimac ApproachBimac typically collaborates closely with customers’ engineering departments that are interested in building or improving products and/or processes. During a site visit with the customer or potential customer our engineers will determine what they are trying to accomplish, review any drawings that are available and tour their facility, where we observe existing processes and problems that exist. Following the meeting, we research currently available metals that will improve the process or life of the product, and frequently suggest changes in processes, part design or tooling that we think will improve and extend the life of what is currently being used. Oftentimes, we perform an actual part design and recommend a proprietary alloy that we formulate. For companies that have eliminated or downsized their engineering departments, Bimac can be an especially useful and cost-effective external resource. More often than not, engineering departments have been stretched to the limit with insufficient time available for problem solving or solution analysis. Bimac engineers can fill this critical void and provide problem identification and cost-effective solutions. This has been a key to our success and another way Bimac differentiates itself from other investment casting providers. In many cases our engineers have implemented cost-saving procedures that, at a minimum, cover the annual salary of in-house engineers, and help to safeguard their positions and prevent further headcount cuts. Naturally, this is all accomplished by working close with our customers’ engineering and other departments. |
